Installing W8 Server without Base OS


Introduction
Preparing a base OS to test some of the new feature of the latest OS sometime it might be time consuming, do you know that we have a different approach on installing those?. The question is do we need a base OS if not how do we do it?. Check out the detail which show that you just need to know 23 steps in details.


Installing Window Server 8 Beta without base OS in 23 steps
1)Boot your machine with a blank hard drive using the Windows Server 8 Beta ISO
2)Click next on the language screen if English is appropriate.

3)SHIFT+F10 to launch a WinPE command console. 



4) Enter DISKPART to run the utility.
5) LIST DISK to see the available disks in your system. 
6) SEL DISK 0
7)
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
8) FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK
9) LIST VOL
10) ASSIGN
11) LIST VOL
12) CREATE VDISK FILE=c:\winsrv8beta.vhd MAXIMUM=200000 TYPE=EXPANDABLE
13)
SELECT VDISK FILE=winsrv8beta.vhd
14) ATTACH VDISK
15) CRE PART PRI
16)FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK
17)ASSIGN LETTER=V:
18)LIST VOL
19)LIST VDISK
20)exit DISPART
21)exit WinPE command console
22)Install to the newly created virtual hard disk which looks just like a partition to Windows Setup. If you notice the picture as show as below, you will see 2 partition, the only different you notice is on figure 2. When you click on it , they are some warning saying that the drive is not supported. You can ignore the warning and continued installed the operating system.
