Windows Server 2012 iSCSI Part 3

In the previous article, I am sure now you should have a better understanding on what iSCSI is. On the rest of the chapter, you will learn on how to connect the pieces together and you can provisioning the infrastructure in a very short time.

1)Back to the iSCSI target, just to recap, we have install the feature and also we have started the iscsi initiator and configuring the iscsi target ip address on the iscsi initiator configuration screen. What we need to do next is to assign a disk.

2) As usual, not just microsoft software, any software installation will ask where you want to store the information. In this wizard we have been asked where to store the virtual disk.

3)Select a proper name for the virtual disk as for labeling purpose.

4)This would be the most interesting part, where by we are going to assign the disk to client, what you need to do here is to select the new iSCSI target. We do this because this is the first round we are going to configure the disk. Click next once you are done.

5)Specify the disk required and click next. In most of the general disk space allocation we would assign more than what you have seen in the slide.

6)Name the target and click next. Straighforward approach.

7)As you have recall on the slide motion 6 whereby we have configure the iSCSI initiator with a iSCSI target IP. We will be see those later.
8)As you can see the IQN appear, just select it and click next.

 9) Click next

10)If you want to strengthen your security, it is recommended to put in the control. Since I am just doing this for a short period, security it is not a concern. But in a larger deployment, you might want to take note on this.
11)Once you are done, we just need to view the summary and click create to proceed with the next screen.
12)Installation status it is shown on every single step it does and this will be the last step on the server side.
